These workshops take place twice a year in different locations. They can also happen for a fee anywhere in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are in support of the League of American Bicyclists&#8217; mission to build a Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone. Our successes to date are thanks in part to the growing bike movement, a network of changemakers leading at the national, state, and local levels. The first day begins in the late afternoon to accommodate same-day travel and consists of an evening happy hour and group ride. The second day includes a full day of training, followed by a group ride and happy hour. The third day wraps up with a half-day of training, allowing attendees to travel home that afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will cover essential advocacy basics such as the history of bike advocacy, how to get organized, effective political engagement, making the case, coalition building, policy basics, funding, storytelling, equity and mobility justice, and more. We try to be as proactive as possible to reach out to the local bike community but know that we don&#8217;t have an exhaustive list. We are always looking for guest speakers, bike rental or bike share opportunities, community organizations, and local advocacy organizations. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-3\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-3\">Cost to Attend<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-3\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The cost of the workshop is $100 which includes one day of lunch and two days of snacks, as well as the certification and all materials associated with the workshop. All other meals (breakfast, dinners, and both happy hours) and all travel and lodging will be at the expense of the attendee.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-4\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-4\">Registration and Requirements<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-4\" tabindex=\"-1\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/smlca.eventbrite.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Register Here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Registration for the workshops is on a first-come-first-serve basis. There will be a cap of 35 participants and will include a waitlist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All registrants must be current individual League members. We also require all attendees to be present for the entire workshop if they want to receive certification as a League Cycling Advocate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the Workshop, attendees will be sent required reading materials to be read at your own pace before the workshop begins.
